North Adams Clay is dedicated to equity, kindness, and shared creativity in our community. The ultimate goal is greater equity in the arts and creating space where it has historically been denied.
SEEDING: a below market discounted rate to reduce financial barriers for marginalized/under-represented folks in our community
SUSTAINING: the market rate that keeps the doors open and the lights on
GENERATING: a generating price point that helps create a more equitable community. pay it forward.
Consider Paying More on the Scale If You:
Own the home you live in
Have access to savings, investments, or retirement accounts
Have inherited wealth or receive financial support from family
Travel recreationally or take vacations without financial strain
Work part-time by choice or are not reliant on your income to meet basic needs
Have access to wealth through systemic privilege (e.g. race, class, education, or gender)
Have a high degree of earning potential, even if you’re not currently using it
Are able to comfortably cover extras like dining out, wellness services, or hobbies
Paying more helps subsidize costs for those who face greater financial barriers and sustains a more equitable and inclusive community.
Consider Paying Less on the Scale If You:
Are supporting children, elders, or other dependents
Have significant debt, especially from medical or educational expenses
Are dealing with chronic illness, disability, or other health-related costs
Receive public assistance (SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, housing assistance, etc.)
Have immigration or legal expenses
Are a senior or living on a fixed income
Are navigating systemic barriers that limit your earning potential or access to wealth
Experience stress when covering basic needs like food, housing, and healthcare
We want everyone to be able to participate in our community regardless of means. Your presence and participation are valued.
We don’t require proof of income. We trust you to make the choice that’s right for you. If you’re unsure, consider what level of payment you can offer without causing financial hardship, while honoring your role in a larger ecosystem of mutual care.
Your contribution, whatever the amount, helps build a more just and generous creative community.
